Spice Rack Organization
I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a storage solution than I am about this spice rack organizer. Maybe it’s all those episodes of The Home Edit or Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, but I have become obsessed with having everything contained in bins or on shelves. In our last house, I used a lazy Susan (which by the way, should actually be called the Smart Susan, because #worksmarternotharder) for all my spices. It was definitely an upgrade from a traditional cabinet, where I inevitably needed the spice jar that was always in the back. But when we moved into our new house, there were no Smart Susans to be found. Sure, I could have purchased a few to put in a cabinet, but then I’d be left with unused space in the corners. For the first few days, I stored all the spices in a cabinet and cursed whenever I couldn’t find what I needed. Then I realized I had these really wide drawers and that were begging to be used.
My search on Amazon led me to these expandable acrylic shelves that have made finding spices a breeze. I even went so far as to alphabetize them! I know, I know, I’m a little bit extra! But if it shaves a few seconds off dinner prep, I’m all for it. The racks hold up to 56 jars if you get the 8-pack, but you can also get a 4-pack if you’re not a spice hoarder like me.
The one down side is that you can only store standard sized spice jars. So, if you buy certain spices in bulk (hello, chili powder!) those won’t fit. But, that just gives you an excuse to put those big containers in a bin instead!
