Cabinet Hardware Makeover
As a child of the 80’s I can’t believe I’m about to transform most of the hardware in my home back to GOLD…but yes, after years of warnings…it’s back. Not quite that hideous brass we remember so well, but this more matte finish champagne look that is so popular right now.
The inspiration started when my wife chose a gold-finished faucet for our kitchen sink (the one that was here when we moved in was totally broken). So after a lot of cursing and banging my head against the garbage disposal, I installed this gold sink and the search for matching cabinet hardware began.
Like everything we’ve shopped for since moving, prices are at least double what they were even 5 years ago. $9 for a cabinet pull? Multiply that by all the pulls in the kitchen and I’m spending hundreds? Then we stumbled on this gem. This product is truly magical. In a few short minutes, we transformed all of the hardware in the kitchen to the exact finish we were looking for and it cost us less than $15. And the stuff holds up!! Unlike spray paint, this is a wax. You simply rub it on and then buff it off. The more you buff it, the shinier it gets so we tried to keep these more on the dull side for that matte finish we were looking for.
I wish I had 500 more words to explain the process but it’s just not needed. This was the easiest transformation we’ve made by far. Now I’m going to have to search the rest of my house for things to Rub n Buff!
